OBZ Festival – 5, 6, 7 December


OBZ FestivalThe Obz Festival is one of the largest street festivals in Southern Africa and showcases the amazing talents of Cape Town. Local musicians will keep you dancing in the streets all night long, while the famous Lazy Sunday Concert is great if you love Jazz music. There will be food, local clothing and arts and crafts on sale at the OBZ Market. The OBZ Film is a festival highlight where South African documentaries and films are screened at various venues around Observatory.

Mother City Queer Project (MCQP) – 20 December


Mothe City Queer Project 2008The Mother City Queer Project (MCQP) is one of the biggest costume parties in the world; it is also the biggest gay event in South Africa. This year’s costume theme is “Light’s, Camera, Action!” – the golden days of Hollywood! There will be plenty of live bands and top DJs playing different types of music to keep you dancing!

Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts – Every Sunday from 23 November 2008 – 5 April 2009


The beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is the venue for weekly summer sunset concerts. Thousands of people arrive at the gardens each Sunday to enjoy music from all the different genres - rock, classical folk, jazz and big band swing! Local and international stars entertain the guests while they picnic on the grass banks surrounding the open air amphitheatre located in the shadow of Table Mountain’s Junction Peak.
