Aspirant and published writers, readers, booksellers and publishers will be out in full strength at the popular Franschhoek Literary Festival again this May.

First launched in 2007 to raise much needed funds for a community library, the Festival has grown immeasurably in both popularity and stature.

Last year's Festival attracted some of the leading literary figures both in South Africa and abroad and included Pulitzer Prize winning American novelist, Richard Ford, Dr Mamphela Ramphele, one of South Africa's foremost academics and a leading businesswoman, world renowned poet, Gabeba Baderoon and the man who wrote one of former President Thabo Mbeki's biographies, Mark Gevisser.
